What can bring a credit score up if .....?

Cancelling your accts won't help, that only shortens your credit history and lessens the number of active tradelines you have. The car payment is a start keep paying that on time then once you feel you're responsible enough open another credit card and if you use it pay it off that month. A good way to do this is have a gas card to put all gas on and pay off monthly to help improve your credit and payment history. Slowly your score will rise. Luckily it seems you're taking care of things now rather than if you were to let your score get into the low 500's before starting to fix it. Good luck.
