Military wives, whats life like for you when your husband is gone?

Do you think the base/post/camp actually care's about you or anything that happens to you while your husband is gone? I just wonder because my husband's last base was really good about being there for the wives, calling and checking on them etc. But the base we are at now doesnt care at all, no matter what happens, they will either tell you to call someone else, or just wont return your call at all. A few years back I got really sick while my husband was deployed. I was in the hospital and then released, But I was still sick/very weak. I had to have prescriptions filled etc.. Nobody would help, nobody in my husband's squadron, etc. And I live on the base!!! I couldnt call any of my friends, cause I couldnt go to the gate to sign them on. I finally found a friend of my husband's from another squadron to get the meds for me. Is it just this base, or are most this way? Horror stories of your experiences are welcomed.
