What kind of terrible mistake has the coalition made?

Much as I loathe Gadaffi and his evil regime, I found the statement made by William Hague and his cohorts in the British Conservative Party to be absolutely disgusting. Who the hell is Hague to tell the official leader of any country that he may remain in his country if he steps down? Imagine the furore of some foreigner from a distant land telling the Queen of England that she may continue to live in England if she steps down? What arrogance, and what pomposity will the Tory party not stretch to? If I were Gadaffi, I would be livid and put two fingers up to Hague. He appears to have visions of grandeur beyond his station.
